Sad Truth
Rising Deaths
Homelessness is such an important issue because it is not only a devastating truth but also because of the deaths that are caused by homelessness. These deaths are only rising, this is seen in Los Angeles, California where, “Homeless deaths have grown at a far faster rate, an increase of about 200 percent during the same period to nearly 2,000 deaths in the county last year” (Fuller, para. 9). This needs to be changed, American citizens' lives depend on it.
Time Away
In today's evolving world it sadly still is not getting easier to escape homelessness. People are becoming homeless at faster rates than ever and they are remaining homeless for decades. Human beings are losing decades of there lives because they are stuck living without a home. Even worse, some homeless people are never able to escape homelessness because they pass away before being given a second chance at life.
Disability
There are many different reasons that lead to homelessness one sad reason being disability. Some people are just born without the ability to work full time which means they physically can not support themselves and their family which leads to homelessness. In the source Journal of Poverty it is stated, “a primary source of income for individuals was some form of income assistance benefit with 68.3% receiving temporary, disability, or persistent multiple barriers income assistance”(Wallace et al., para. 30). This shows the true amount of people that are homeless because of there disability.
